Projects
Our primary project, of course, has been to spearhead the Shubian's Rift film, a full-length science fiction feature film. At first, our approach was to make a stand alone single film to tell the story Joe initially wrote back in 1975. But as the filming and editing progressed, it became quite apparent that we had more of a television pilot on our hands. The backstory that drives the plot had become so big and complex that it was soon realized that Shubian's Rift would be best served as an episodic adventure. With that in mind the ending was drastically changed to a much darker tone, leading us into producing the sequel. The sequel will be filmed in 4-5 24 minute episodes, much like a chaptered story arc in a series. Each episode will be considered to be a short film in itself, but part of a bigger story. Each episode will be available for viewing on the flyboyfilmproductions.com website so viewers can enjoy the story as it unfolds. Once the final episode is completed, all the epsodes will be edited together as one film and distributed as such.
We are very happy to announce that Shubian's Rift has its own Title Page on IMDB.com. Just go to www.imdb.com and type in Shubian's Rift in the search window. The original trailer is featured with updated effects along with a new 4 minute clip from the film. You may now view the entire film there with newly updated visual and audio effects, The "Ultimate Edition".
Our other current project has nothing to do with science fiction at all. Mo is a certified Pilates and Yoga instuctor, as well as being certified in Personal Training. For the last 2 1/2 years we produced the Motivational Fitness show for Charter channel 10 and 19 in Newnan, Georgia. The show covers Pilates and Yoga routines that produce a blend of mind and body exercises. Alas, the show went off the air on August 31st, but it gave us enough experience with such a production that we created an exercise DVD centered on the Pilates and Yoga disciplines of exercise.
The Motivational Fitness T.V. show, which returned in February, 2009, has taken a hiatus. We had produced 16 episodes with this second season, but due to lack of sponsorship, we had to cease broadcast. However, we will produce these episodes on DVD and release them for sale and digital download very soon. Look for the original release of the "5 Best Episodes" from the first season on this site, and on www.ameibo.com. www.ameibo.com now offers the DVD as a digital download. We're also working on offering all episodes from both seasons as video streams so you can view them at your leisure.
The full 2 hour DVD of Mo's 5 favorite episodes from the first season not only features Ells's music, but 2 guest star musicians' work, as well: Chris Coleman and Cadaffy Jones. Their music is in the background for their respective episodes. The DVD is packaged with the aforementioned soundtrack from Ells on CD. This is also on sale at Barnes and Noble in Newnan, Georgia.
And one more thing; also just produced is an 18 minute Yoga meditation called November Mornings Meditation. Narration was written and performed by Mo, again featuring one of Ellsworth Hall's wonderful compositions. The CD contains two tracks: The first is the narration meditation with the music in the background; the second has only the music. This CD is on sale now in our store as well as Barnes and Noble.
There's also a BOOK in the works. A good friend of Joe's, James Cambas, is a published short-story science fiction writer. After reading several of his works, James was approached concerning collaborating with Joe in writing the Novelization of the Shubian's Rift movie. James accepted with a smile on his face and the writing was completed ahead of schedule in May 2008. The book has completed the editing stage and will be in the publishing stage shortly. Release date to be announced, but hopefully by Summer 2010.
There are two other projects waiting in the wings. One is a short film adapted from one of James Cambas's science fiction short stories. It'll be a difficult decision as to which one will be selected since all of them are a winner. The other project is an idea thought up of from none other than Stan Gentry. He had approached Joe with the idea of making a horror film, but not any kind of run of the mill horror story, but one that takes a tried, but true genre and adds a twist to it that will capture the imagination. No small task, but we feel more than able to tackle it.
We're very excited about these changes, and are very proud to bring the show back to viewers in Newnan. As you can see, there are a lot of exciting things going on at Flyboy Film Productions. We just can't help ourselves; the creative bug has a stronghold on us, but we wouldn't have it any other way. It's what we do.
